Physical Culture
What is Physical Culture?
Physical Culture is a combination of dance, ballet, and exercise routines. It is a unique but competitive sport for girls and ladies from the ages of 5 years and upwards.
Physical Culture is a form of controlled aerobic exercise, consisting of a variety of choreographed routines and rhythmical movements. These are designed to increase body strength and flexibility, and include movements such as bending, jumping, swinging, twisting or kicking, using only one's body weight for resistance.
Physie Competitions
Each year we learn a new syllabus to different music and work hard at perfecting each of the steps, ready for competitions. Physie competitions are based on technique, presentation, performance, energy, athletic ability and fun.
Competitors show off their levels of strength, flexibility, and endurance - all required to perform difficult routines. These routines are performed in both team and individual competitions (in age appropriate groups).
Physical Culture requires great strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, artistry and precise timing, as well as exceptional control. Physie is technically based movement to music.
Similarly related activities include synchronised swimming, calisthenics, ballet, cheer squad.
